Faculty-based orientation welcomes students for the 2022/23 academic year
Around 200 students who enrolled for senior-year entry for eight undergraduate programmes under FLASS attended the faculty-based orientation activity jointly held by the faculty and Student Affairs Office on 4 August. This cohort of students will start their studies as third-year students in the academic year of 2022/23.
The orientation activity began with a welcome and introduction speech by Dr Prudence Lau Leung-kwok, Assistant Dean (Undergraduate Studies and Student Learning) of FLASS and Assistant Professor from the Department of Cultural and Creative Arts (CCA). Dr Lau briefed the student audience about the faculty’s organisational structure and the academic focuses of the six departments under FLASS. She explained the academic advisor system for the first year of study, the programme-based internship arrangement, the credit transfer system for senior-year students who take one elective course at a master’s degree level during their studies, and the career prospects of the eight undergraduate programmes. Representatives from the Student Affairs Office and Global Affairs Office also gave attending students a snapshot of the activities organised by the University and campus life.
After the main introduction, the programme leaders gave introductory talks for the eight undergraduate programmes: Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Creative Arts and Culture (BA(CAC)), Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Artificial Intelligence and Educational Technology (BSc(AI&EdTech)), Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Integrated Environmental Management (BSc(IEM)), Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Sports Science and Coaching (BSc(SPSC)), Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Sociology and Community Studies (BSocSc(SCS)), Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Social Entrepreneurship and Development Studies (BSocSc(EDS)), Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Greater China Studies (BSocSc(GCS)), and Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) (BHE).
